A Rough Road Ahead?

After a surprising 3 games home stand the Montreal Canadiens looked to keep up the momentum on the road. The goal scoring was at an all-time high for the year with the Habs only having a below average goal count. Offensively and Defensively the Montreal Canadiens look really enticing. They have impressive forechecking effort along the boards with Brendan Gallagher and Andrew Shaw putting it on display. The speed game looks very good as well with the breakout game looking well through the neutral zone. With all these pros on their game, are there any flaws within? The answer to that question is Carey Price. Carey Price in many people's opinion is the best goalie in the world, but he hasn’t shown that caliber of play so far this season. His stats are as follows;
GP (Games Played): 11 W (wins): 3 L (Losses): 7 OT (overtime losses): 1
GAA (Goals Against Average): 3.77 Sv% (Save percentage): .887
These are not good numbers, especially for Carey Price. He needs to step it up if Montreal is going to get into the playoffs. With the goaltending being as bad as it is for Carey Price, the playoffs do not look very promising for the Habs. For some other stats, we have the goal scoring leaders for the Habs with Brendan Gallagher having 6 goals, behind him in the runner-up spot we have Max Pacioretty with 4 goals. Alex Galchenyuk is showing some promise with 4 goals so far, it seems he’s getting used to the cycle game that head coach Claude Julien has put forth.We also have Shea Weber and Phillip Danault tied at 3 goals a piece. Assisting leader on the team is hometown boy Jonathan Drouin with 7 points on the season. He has high expectations in Montreal, so let’s see how that pans out.

As for the Habs moving forward, they have to get two wins out of this road trip to not dig themselves into a very deep hole that they cannot dig themselves out of. The win against Ottawa was a great win for the Habs, but the game against Minnesota may seem like the Habs might run out of gas. Who knows how the Habs will do on their road trip. Let’s hope they can pull a win out of Winnipeg tonight!
